Mr. Abdou Baye is a graduate of the University of The Gambia with a BA (Magna Cum Lauda) in Development Studies. He also holds a national certificate in Integrated Approach to Rural Development from the Rural Development Institute. He attended a series of professional training during his professional career in Leadership, Risk Management, and Branch Management, among others. Abdou has over eight (8) years of working experience in the Microfinance Industry with strong knowledge of retail banking; he has worked in all the regions of the country and managed relationships with micro, SME and groups, these help him amass diverse socio-cultural and economic experiences in retail banking. Prior to joining APS Islamic Microfinance Co. Ltd., he worked at Reliance Financial Services Co. Ltd where he served various assignments on different functions. He started as a Credit Officer before being selected as part of the pioneer team to implement the Village Baking program. He was outstanding in the pilot phase and was selected as a supervisor to lead the rolling-out of the program in various rural regions (branches) of the country. He was also part of the team that set up Risk Management department in Reliance and served as a Credit Risk Analyst before being elevated to a Branch Manager.
Abdou is our Head of Retail Finance and a member of our pioneering Senior Management Staff. He leads our retail business programs coordinating the entire branch network in implementing the core company business strategies.
